A Couple Weeks of Christmas

I decorated for Christmas right after Thanksgiving this year. I absolutely love Christmas and Christmas decorations! I bought a lot more this year, so I had to get tub #3 to hold it all when I put it away. (Yep, I wait until New Years to do that :) ) I put Christmas lights up outside the house, also. I did it all by myself, Kelly pretty much just held the ladder for me. I grew up helping my dad put up the lights, and doing it from on top of the roof, so that's how I did it. (our neighbor called me brave. :) )

It's not much, but I'll have more next year! I think next year I'm going to add some color to it.

This is my parents house. See where I get it from?

Kelly and I went to my parents house in Mountain Home, which is about 45 miles south of Boise for Christmas the weekend before the 25th. I had to work Christmas Eve and Christmas, and my sister Natalie's son was going to be at his Dad's for Christmas, so we figured it would be easy to just do it the weekend before.

My 2 1/2 year old nephew, Joey knew what the presents were all about, and he was ready to open them! He was so cute, his phrase for the night was "ooohhh no!" and he would say it when he opened a present. We got him a little people farm set, and when he tore the corner of wrapping paper off (all you could see what just a tiny bit of the box) he said "A guitar!" LOL He's definitely got some personality!

Kelly got an argyle sweater from Natalie and her fiance, Adam  I got some stuff, too, but I picked them out myself the day after Thanksgiving and took all but a shirt home with me, so that I would have something to open. :)

Natalie got the dogs a present, too. We took it home so that they could open it themselves.

They actually got all the wrapping paper off and opened the box of cookies themselves! They even ate a couple before we took it away. It was great!

I tried to get Maggie and Clyde's picture under the tree, but this is the best I got.

Maggie's a good girl though. She stayed for a nice picture. :)

I did feed them under the tree on Christmas though. :)
(Notice we don't have a tree skirt or any presents under the tree? Yeah, we have a puppy!)

We went over to Kelly's aunt and uncle's house on Christmas Eve and Christmas, and since I had to work both nights, I just left from their house and went to work on Christmas Eve, went home Christmas morning, got 4 hours of sleep, then we went to Kelly's mom's house to open a couple presents. His mom had gotten us a washing machine a couple weeks ago when ours broke, so she just picked us up hats so we could open something.

Kelly's family doesn't take many pictures, so I felt weird taking pictures. I took a couple, but one is of Kelly's cousin's baby, and I'm not sure how private they are about pictures on the internet, so I'm not going to post the cute little guy.

Sorry this is so picture heavy - I really need to post more so that this doesn't happen! I hope everyone had a great and blessed Christmas celebrating the birth of our Savior. Have a great New Year!

Thanksgiving Weekend

So this is how my weekend started on Wednesday. Driving from Boise, Idaho to Logan, Utah on roads that looked like this. (This picture is from my cell phone). It was never really very dangerous for me, luckily, and I was following my parents the whole way. There were times we were only going 20mph, and then times when we were going 65mph, it just depended.

We finally arrived at my Grandma's house in Logan and visited with my Grandma, my sister Natalie, who takes care of my Grandma, her 2 1/2 year old son Joey and my oldest sister, Alicia (her 7 year old daughter, Emma was in New Jersey with her dad). The next morning, on Thanksgiving, we always wake up and watch the Macy's parade, and look through Black Friday ads, while dinner is being prepared.

Even Joey got into looking at the ads. He was telling us what he wanted. (he doesn't want any Barbies...)

Then we ate a yummy dinner! From right to left is Adam (Natalie's fiance), Joey, Natalie, Me and Alicia

 Joey loves his Great-Grandma :)

My mom, sisters and I are big Black Friday shoppers, so we got up at 4:30am and got to Shopko a little after 5am. Alicia lives in Phoenix, and it was 12 degrees that morning! (but, it was -12 degrees Thanksgiving morning! Needless to say, we stayed inside, lol) So it was really cold for her!
Love the view from Logan! (I also got my first taste of Chick-Fil-A! YUM!)

Look at our loot!

Friday night we went and Saw Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Even my 82 year old Grandma came! She's read all the books). We sat in the in the 2nd row, and it was close! I've only seen the first couple movies (I know - GASP!) and so I didn't really know what was going on, and I eventually fell asleep (whoops...) But, I do have to say, I think I'll get caught up in time for part 2.

Joey loves popcorn :)

On Saturday, I really wanted to stay, but I needed to get home because I had to work Sunday night, and I wanted a day to relax before work. So that afternoon I left to head home, and caught some pretty views.

This is the Wellsville Mountains, which is part of the Wasatch Front

I drove home and didn't really hit any bad weather, and then I got to Mountain Home (where I grew up), which is 45 miles away from Boise. The snow was coming down really hard, so I thought I'd stop and get some more gas, just in case. I couldn't even find the exit! (and I'm from there!) Finally, I was able to find the exit and get off the freeway, and as I was putting gas in the car, I decided to go to my parents house and wait out the storm. (it was dark, if it was daylight, it might have been better) I called my mom, who was still in Logan and told her I was going to hang out at their house for a little while. I went to the house and ended up just saying the night, and I left the next morning. This is what the road looked like to Boise.

It wasn't horrible, but I was glad it wasn't snowing like the night before.
I got home, unpacked my stuff and tried to relax before having to go to work that night. I had to work 5 nights instead of the regular 4, and it was hard! I ended up having to stay late a couple of the mornings because of more snowstorms. We got a lot of snow in the past week and a half! I'll post about that later! :)

Still Nothin'

Just thought I'd check in and complain that we still haven't gotten a new battery charger. I'm heading to my Grandma's house in Logan, Utah later this week for Thanksgiving and I'll have to borrow some batteries from my parents so I can still take pictures.

I'm pretty excited to go to my Grandma's, but I always am. I used to go all the time growing up, but then I got older and had to get a job to pay for stuff, and that doesn't always allow me to just head down to my grandma's!  I love my Grandma. She's so cute. :)

My camera doesn't work right now, but that doesn't mean we aren't capturing things. We have a lot more videos now (Which I can't load onto my laptop because the usb ports don't work...lol But, Kelly's brother can do it and put them on a disc for us.) and I've still got my camera phone, and other people taking pictures. so this post wont be picture-less. (But they do center around Clyde...)

We went to a cold Pug Meet on Saturday, so we bundled him up...

He was still pretty cold though, so his Uncle Dan tried to keep him warm.

This one is from my phone, this was his first time in the snow!

I have a video of Clyde catching snowflakes from the other night that I'll have to try and load. It's way cute. Maggie's doing good, she's still playing with Clyde and still loves food. I'm not sure if I mentioned this, but we also got her spayed last month, and she recovered nicely. :)

Here's Maggie at the Pug Meet. Thanks to Sam for taking the pictures and uploading them on the meetup site! :)

Brodie is still Brodie and he loves to play. Now that it's getting too cold to take him out to play, we still have to accommadate his energy, so we throw his mesh ball down the stairs so he has to run down and then up them. It gets him tired quicker. :)

Okay, this is totally a picture from one of my first posts, but I thought I'd post it again.

And since I'm adding old pictures, I'll add these two of little Clyde. :)

Okay, that should make up for not having a camera. Hopefully next week I'll actually have some pictures to post. Have a great Thanksgiving!!! :)

Batteries Not Included...

Okay, so I put newly charged batteries in my camera this weekend, and then when I wanted to take a picture, my camera wouldn't turn on. So, our battery charger is dead, and we need to get a new one. I could go to the store and buy some regular batteries, but I'm kind of cheap.

But, last weekend was my birthday weekend (yep, here we have birthday weekends, not just a day. :) ) so we had big plans, but none of them really worked out. We did them this weekend though, but of course - a dead camera can't capture that...

So here's we we did do last weekend:

Last Friday, we decided it might be fun to go catch a high school football game at Bronco Stadium. Like I said, I'm cheap - high school games are $6, while a BSU game is, well, a lot more than that. I used to march in the Blue Thunder Marching Band at BSU, so the stadium isn't anything new to me, but we still thought it would be fun to go. We watched the first half of the Capital High School vs Boise High School game, but left at halftime (no marching band show... :( ) when the score was 42 - 0, with Capital winning. (I did hear that Boise made a touchdown, though. LOL) If the high school state championships end up being at the stadium (I guess it depends who is playing) we are going to try to go to that game. It's pretty fun.

Hehe, I have my high school colored blanket at another schools game. :) (They do play against each other...)

See? We were there. :)

On Saturday we had Pug-O-Ween, which I already posted about, and then that night we went to The Farmstead, which is a Corn Maze in Meridian.

 A big chair...

They had this bouncy thing, and I think it's for kids, but we went on it anyway.

We cut through this one part and got totally lost - it was great. :)

Sunday was my birthday. It rained all day and we couldn't race the go karts at Wahooz, so we got a rain check for my free birthday pass and went this past weekend. Also, I had a free movie ticket, but we missed all the decent times, so we went and saw Megamind this weekend. I liked it, and recommend it.

Like I've said before, I've been a little obsessed with wedding planning, we don't even have a venue yet! We are looking at April 16th as the date, but we are on a tight budget, so it's hard to find a decent venue. I've got a few in mind, and once we sign a contract, all the other ideas in my head will hopefully come together. I can't wait! :) :) :)

Pug-O-Ween

Pug-O-Ween was on Saturday 10/30, and we love going every year. It's the most attended pug meet of the whole year and it's so fun to see all the dogs in costumes!

This year Maggie was a hot dog, Clyde was ketchup and Brodie was mustard. :) Brodie was too busy running around to really get a picture of him, so he's not in our picture under the sign. (or really any...)

Brodie's mustard costume looked just like Clyde's ketchup one, except it was yellow and said mustard on it.

Olive came with her family so we had a little family reunion and took some pictures with Royce, Maggie, Clyde and Olive. I hope Izzy's (Elsie) family can make it to a pug meet sometime.

Olive is a wild girl! She was so excited to be there and so crazy to hold, I loved it! Clyde was growling at her! I think he was a little overwhelmed at the amount of dogs at Pug-O-Ween and seeing them all in costumes made him nervous, but it was kind of funny he was growling, it was almost like he remembered that he was the runt and got picked on, lol!

She just wanted to give kisses!

Our friends that have a Pug and Boston Terrier also dressed thier Boston Terrier up as a Pug. :)

This guy is the best Boston Terrier around! He's so cute and well behaved!

I tried to get a picture of Maggie, Brodie and Clyde all together in the back of the car, but this is all I could get.

Pug-O-Ween was fun this year, and I'm already looking forward to next year!

Whoo Hoo!

We got a new car!!! It's a 2011 Scion xB. We've been saving for a new car for a year and a half and were finally able to get it last week. We were either going to get a Mazda3, Mazda CX-7 or a Scion xB, but when I test drove the Mazda3, my back started to hurt, and with my scoliosis, that's an important thing. We thought about the Mazda CX-7, and we test drove it and really liked it, but there were a few things we couldn't figure out with reviews and things (it wasn't Consumer Reports recommended, but then they changed the motor to one that was recommended, but we couldn't find an updated review).

We looked at maybe getting a Toyota Camry, but I'll tell you, I have never felt so cramped in a car. I couldn't believe how small the inside of the Camry was. We sat inside of a Corolla, and it was a little better, but then we sat in the Scion and it's so roomy inside! With 3 dogs, it's exactly what we need!

Clyde likes it. :) Okay, well he doesn't like having to sit in the back, but he'll get used to it.

We went to Walmart the other day and saw a rainbow, so I had to take a picture of my car with the rainbow behind it. :)

Goin' to the...

Chapel and we're gonna get married!!!

That's right! After 6 years together, we're making it official! We don't have a lot of official plans yet, but I have my dress! We are thinking of sometime in the spring - March or April. There's a chance we might set it for December though. It just might be easier to have the wedding around Christmas for family coming. We'll have to see what we can figure out.

Kelly hasn't officially proposed yet,  (but I have a birthday next weekend...lol) but a couple weeks ago we went to every jewelry store in the mall and picked out one that I like at each. The two it came down to was an antique looking one, and the more modern looking one that I got. I love it! :)

We took engagement pictures last weekend. The picture at the top is a zoomed in, cropped photo of one of the pictures. This one:

I was talking to a friend at work, Natasha, who got married last year, about pictures, and she mentioned how she had a really nice camera, so instead of paying close to $100 for an engagement session, we headed out last Sunday afternoon to two beautiful places in Boise - Kathryn Albertson Park and the Boise Depot. Here's a few of my favorite ones.

Out of 217 pictures, we chose 32 poses we liked, I was just going to put 3 or 4, but I couldn't decide out of the 32. I was glad that she had such a nice camera, and that I have a bit of studio photography experience so I knew a few poses, lol.

I've been a little obssessd with wedding planning and not really paying attention to blogging. I was waiting until I was able to call my Grandma and tell her about the engagement before I really put it out there in the open. I hope my cousins understand. :)

I'm so excited to be married to such a great, good lookin' guy! I love him so much! :)
